Font size
« on: February 23, 2010, 11:39:14 AM »

Is it possible to increase the size of the site fonts by about a factor of 1000?

I always have to press CTRL+ several times when I visit PD.net, because the smaller texts are absolutely unreadable. Even the main menu is microscopic.

I don't think a thousand... but you are not the first to mention small fonts. What theme are you using, and what browser?

I think the standard because the theme doesn't change when I log on and off.

Debase?

Ok, we are going to be upgrading to SMF2 soon, so I'll do a quick hack for know... don't be suprised if I break something, though.  ;)

Hopefully SMF2 will be good. PHPBB3 currently murders SMF with a stick in terms of usability.

PHPBB murders any other forum software. It's simply too good...

Ok, if you anyone using Debase theme, in the Firefox go to: View > Page style > Big Fonts. Check it out. If you change pages, it will go back to the standard stylesheet. Meanwhile, I am working on a style-switcher that uses a cookie to give a persistent choice, even if you log out.

Interesting.

Don't know what you did, WillyP.  When I came here this evening, all I got was a template parse error.  Ended up having to "kill" my browser's cookie for this site, then re-open the site and sign in. (essentially, allow the site to completely re-create the cookie)

I was running the Debase theme.  After I got back in the Debase them worked again.  I've now switched to Dusky.  Kind of like it, wouldn't mind if it a just a touch (or two) darker... and the blue font color in the Recent/Stats/Shoubox was a bit lighter (and didn't blend in so much).

Oh yeah ... newest version of FireFox.  IE8, Chrome, Maxthon all had no problems ... but they weren't set to sign in.

I like the Dusky theme.  Set it as my default.  I didn't have any trouble with whatever it is WillyP did. (yea me!)

Well, I warned you it might break... if you could have read the warning...  :-[

Anyway, debase is fixed now. I tried to add a style switcher to the theme, so you could hit a button and get a larger font but it wouldn't work. So I made a new theme from a copy of Debase, called BigTextDebase. It should be in the theme chooser now.

Ok, BigTextDebase10 is working now.

Sorry about breaking the forum, I should have tried in a copy of the theme, or a theme nobody is using, not the default theme.

SMF2 is going to be a big change, I've installed it and played with it. Themes are not interchangeable, though. So I don't want to spend a lot of time changing these themes and then not be able to use them. Tiny Portal is not ready for SMF2 yet, which is why this forum is not switched over yet.
