Current state of PD.com...
« on: June 15, 2009, 11:45:28 AM »
Just visited www.planetdescent.com and I can't see anything. Since it has scripting errors I'm assuming something *bad* is wrong. Does anyone know? Is it just me? I'm gonna be mad if Gamespy dropped it.  :-\
I, for one, hope this is much, much more than a reconnaissance mission.

Still up. Everytime it goes down, I panic in the same way too, so don't worry

I really hope, if they do take it down though, they give us time to backup the database and scripts.

Now that this site is up and running, is it time to say goodbye to .com PD?

Actually, no. This site is not in any way affiliated with PD.com - and some members are even offended by it's existence. WillyP and TechPro were probably the first to join, then a few others. Slowly but surely the PD.net community is growing out from the PD.com community, but I still avoid things such as linking items from this site to PD.com because it can come across as leeching, unfortunately.
I, for one, hope this is much, much more than a reconnaissance mission.

.net is not intended to replace .com, but it's here if .com becomes unusable for any reason. I am very saddened to see the problems occurring at .com, and even more by the attitudes of a few stubborn individuals there.

My philosophy on such issues is that it is always good to have a “Plan B”.
There are times you strive for greatness, to reach lofty goals and accomplish
noble deeds. Then there’s the rest of the times you just want to blow s--- up.

Ditto, but of course, I don't want to see PD.com go under either (Because then, my 3400+ post count would be gone forever! :P)
