And mine is in a constant, non-changing state. :P

In other words, where are you going with this? ;)

I've already gone, from a large desktop to a small one. And to a larger Desktop. See pic attached, showing my largely shrunk desktop (in usable space that is), and my expanded Desktop.

@WILLYP, I see you're a fellow trackballer. I started using them over 15 years ago. Definitely saves on desk space. Used them with Descent before I bought myself a decent joystick.

XD You have the Saitek Eclipse! I want a trackball, but I haven't gotten one yet. My next mouse will be a nice Logitech or I'll get a good Kensington trackball.

The trackball is awesome, the Saitek is so-so.

The trackball is due for replacement, the finish is worn off and the right button is a bit unreliable. But other than sometimes not getting a right click on the first try, it works great! I don't have any serious complaints about the Saitek, but the backlighting is a gimmick, I usualy turn it off to see the keys in low light. And the keys don't have a nice, solid feel to them. If I were a typist I probably not like it at all.

But nobody guessed my riddle, so here's the answer... My 19" lcd monitor died. I had this older crt, it's a 22" VeiwSonic... awesome monitor in it's day, but, DANG is this thing big!  ;) So, my desktop got smaller... that is, I have little room with this behemouth on it... but my Windows Desktop grew from a 19" lcd to a 22"crt. The lcd fit into a cubby that I made some time ago for it. I'm stuck with the crt until I get back to work.

I didn't know it was a riddle. Aside from my laptop I only have CRT's, usually 20" or larger. Most of the time I use dual monitors. Limted desk space but a huge desktop. Trackball helps a lot there.

Best trackball I found so far is the now discontinued Microsoft Trackball Explorer.

I also have several of the old Logiech ones on hand, but only 2 buttons.

I actually much prefer CRT to LCD. Despite not having a coolness factor, color accuracy and clarity can be far better on them (depending on the type). For example, I bought a 17" CRT Dell monitor (it says Trinitron on it, so it's really a Sony) for 20 bucks on CraigsList. I wouldn't even trade it for a 17" Samsung LCD if I had the option. 'Tis a fantastically clear monitor, and the display manages to be rather flat for a CRT.  ;)
I, for one, hope this is much, much more than a reconnaissance mission.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love this monitor, it's a ViewSonic Graphics Series G220fb, I love the extra size and the picture is great. But it's too close to the front edge of my desk.

Yeah, I can see where that would be a problem. :)

Nah, this one's pretty big. But it predates computers, so instead of a keyboard slide-out it has a pencil drawer. Then, when I had the lcd I made a bridge, it's held up by a cubby the lcd fit into.
