Kaiaatsel is correct.  There are a set of unique 1v1 anarchy levels from D1 for PSX.  As I recall, they're pretty small.

P.S. I forgot, so someone remind me to post those files.

WAIT! I just thought of something. When I ripped the music off of the D1 PSX disc, I noticed there was an extended remix of Glut, yet the song NEVER appears in the game. I have never played D1 PSX anarchy, but if any of you have, do you remember that song possibly coming up?
I like to think I have a Descent taste of music.

Seems like I recall hearing it, but it's been something like 6 years since I played D1-PSX.

Extended remix, huh?  I hear a version different from the D2 version when I play D1 PSX... but it doesn't sound like an extended remix.

Yeah well the entire song of Glut is pretty much the same two lines over and over with slightly different background so that's understandable.
Very interesting information...

Hey guys, should I post a FULL album of exclusively Descent 1 PSX music in the gallery? I don't think there's a defined album on here for that and I have them all. They're SLIGHTLY different from Descent 1 MAC.

Okay, I'm zipping up the contents of the D1-PSX disc.

-----------

...Huh. Something I just noticed, while flipping through the PSX manual:  There's a log of a discussion between "Material Defender" and "PTMC Security One", who is explaining the operation of the "older model PyroGX with Default Configuration 1" (with references to PSX-style controls, and referring to the ship as the "Syssyx").

What's interesting is that they give out their names... Horus and Russ, respectively.

What's even more interesting is the last bit of the log:

Quote
"Got it Russ.  This will be a cake-walk."

"Don't get so cocky, son.  That's what the last Material Defender said."

"What happened to him?"

"He didn't come back."

:P

If anyone wants a scan of that log from the PSX manual, let me know.  Mine seems to be in excellent condition.

I'll have to scan the manual later when I have time.  8)

In the meantime, I'll PM the link to the D1-PSX contents to whoever wants to take a look.  Just let me know.

In the Definitive Collection manual, it's still Russ, but the MD is named Nitron.  I think it may have been this way in the original as well.

And of course, it goes on to explain the default keyboard controls.

Both have something along the lines of "Good luck, (name).  Kick the drek out of those 'bots and may the...oh, never mind, you're too young to remember."

I remember reading that in the Definitive Collection, but I always questioned whether or not to take it canonically, seeing that minor details conflict with actual in-game details, or at least that's how I remember it (it has been a little while since I last looked at it). It also had a very...disconnected...feel to it, like it didn't fit into the game's continuity at all, but again, that's IMO.

I suspect it was meant to be taken as just a fun way to provide basic instructions for the game, and to not take the details it presented as relevant to the plot precisely.

But then again...it would be interesting to know if MD actually did have a canonically given name. :D
