Title: A few questions about Descent 2..

- D2X-XL, how exactly do I install this? I thought I did but I dont see any real results. Models and textures still the same. For both D1 and D2.

- Descent Collection, why didn't it ever come with the cutscenes from Descent 2? And is there a way to force 1024x768 to descent2 on dosbox?

- And I could have sworn that this song was in the first level of descent 2 when I played it as a kid on my first computer:

Question 1:
You need to download the hires models and hires textures -- they don't come in the installation file for D2X-XL becuase it would be too big a download every time you updated D2X-XL.

Question 2:
I have no idea.

Question 3:
D2 actually had 2 soundtracks.  The CD soundtrack started with Glut, but the midi soundtrack (which I guess would play if you removed the CD from the drive or disabled it in the sound options menu) started with the midi track.
Should I blatantly promote my remix soundtrack to you?

Also, I got the high res models and textures. I put the folders in the there but nothing.

basically, on MS windows, IDK how the folders and files should be setup.

Tried looking at the instructions but cant figure it out.

All the addon data archives for D2X-XL already contain the proper folders. Just extract them to the main D2X-XL (Descent) folder. Make sure to extract the folders, too.

When putting D2X-XL into a standard Descent installation, it will copy all standard Descent files to the proper folders when first run.

Run D2X-XL by launching d2x-xl.exe or d2x-xl-omp.exe.

I laucned dx2-xl-omp, and I only hear sound but no image. And with dx2-xl.exe, I get neither.

Fixed it, works good so far except 1 problem. How can I change the resolution of the movies? I am using a 2nd screen as my main monitor and it cant go higher or lower than 1024x768.

Please register on forum.descent2.de, find a post of mine there and read the stuff linked to in my signature. You will find answers to most of your (very standard) problems there. Ask in the forum for help with the rest.
