Title: "Match Whole Word Only" in search?
Post by: SaladBadger on January 08, 2012, 07:48:20 PM
By default, the search feature searches for any instance of the specified characters rather than entire words (ie: put in TRON and instead of getting lots of results about the movie you'll get words that have TRON in them). The problem is though is that there's no obvious checkbox that indicates it to search for entire words, nor does it say anything about something special you can put into the box to tip it off about what you want, and quotation marks don't work any better. Is there any way this could be changed?

There is no option to do this in the existing code. Did you find what you were searching for?

Eventually, yes. With the target word, it wasn't too bad but it could potentially be worse.

Meh, as long as I can find what I'm looking for, it's OK but I'd rather have such an option if possible (which I guess it isn't)

Ya just gotta search "outside the box" ...

Search for the word plus one more word, and use quote marks to force the search to look for it as a phrase.  Instead of searching for TRON Movie (without quote marks) search for "TRON Movie" and get only 2 thousand hits instead of 6 million.
