Title: GOG D3 - Launcher Freeze

Hello All,
I can't seem to get passed this launcher problem. Also I'm not very good on computers so if you have patience and think you can help I would be thankful. Have played the game before on an older computer many years ago.
 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
 ASUSTek Computer Inc.
       System Model: G60JX
               BIOS: BIOS Date: 06/15/09 18:50:05 Ver: 08.00.10
          Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU       Q 720  @ 1.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~1.6GHz
             Memory: 6144MB RAM
 Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M

If the launcher freezes, you can always play the game directly using D3's exe (that's 'main.exe').

Just create a shortcut of main.exe on your desktop or wherever you want, and put on it the line command: -launched (and after that every other command you may want to use, all this on shortcut's properties) and you should be done :)

EDIT: umh, wait. I forgot you need the launcher first to configure video card and stuff. Well, then try compatibility modes on the launcher's exe (put it on win98 mode and with administrator rights and see what happens)

Thomas has done a lot of work in getting D3 to work on newer computers, and also compiled a great installer for it, which includes missions, editor tools, etc...

I uninstalled the GOG version and downloaded the complete D3 from dateiliste and ended up with the same thing. I'm ready to give up again for a while. Thanks to everyone for trying.

Run compatability mode on the main application for some old computer.

hey guys, is "Windows 7",  "64bit" an issue with Descent 3 or does D3 work with that? I have no way to check; just thinking "old game" and "new system and specs"

D3 works fine with Win7 / x64.

My guess is audio driver issues.  The D3 launcher plays audio by default; that may be the reason for the lockup.
