After careful consideration of all the entries,  ;) I am pleased to announce NUMBERZero has won the January 2010 Planet Descent Contest.

Simpler, but at least I followed the rules of depth :P

Rules of depth??? not sure what you mean by that. I think it was pretty open to whatever someone wanted to do.

You don't have to listen to the musics and just read the thing, but if you do want to roll with it, here are the instructions.

The "Rules of Depth" was just a sarcastic comment as I tried to make things look like they were part of the scene. The sunrise, or "explosion" is behind the hills, which means that the dying boss makes sense back there, smaller, as he's part of the background

And then zero just went the lazy route and put everything over the image. If the base image was 1.5-2x large, with the added things at the same scale though, it may have worked  :P

If you had said 'bold' or 'lacking subtlety' that I, at least, could understand. But lazy? No. C'mon, he put far more work into this than anyone else.

What kind of contest would people be interested in?
