Trophy, the level won by NUMBERZero in the 2009 Planet Descent Christmas Ditty Contest, is now online! So, let's all jump in and play some anarchy.
And thanks to Foil for hosting this!

:D
Let me know if there are any issues with the server. I just moved my D3 dedicated servers to a different machine, which has been giving me trouble for a couple of days.
-
My thanks cannot be expressed in words. ;D

Tried that level. Looks pretty cool. There wasn't anyone else there when I popped in, but it was pretty cool.
sadly, Descent 3 kept crashing on me while in that level ... and my Descent 3 is normally pretty dang solid. :'(
-
Strange... Only crashed me when I exited the level... My D3 has been doing that often lately, so I didn't think much of it.
-
Ah-ah! I crashed too. Interesting.
-
I think it's due to having custom objects.
-
Not sure if this is any good for crashes _in_ the level, but the new server tool might fix the crashes at the end of the level (when it's about to roll over).
We'll see...
-
No it did not. If I recall correctly, I joined my own dedi server and upon leave, D3 crashed and so did the server. I think.
-
I just tried the level with the objects extracted into Descent 3's main folder on the server.
It kills my mouse. If the objects are extracted I can't move the mouse anymore. If I use the keyboard alone, the level keeps crashing after a few seconds.
Without the objects extracted the level is playable but crashes a bit later on.
Hm...
-
Mzero and I just tried it while she was hosting.
With the extracted objects, the server doesn't crash like on Foil's server before.
The client still crashes, however, when the player leaves. The server stays alive.

Here we go. ;D
Remove _all_ oof files from your Descent 3's main folder. I bet that helps.
-
I just checked. There are none. I did remove a lightsave.d3l that was in there for some reason. I will try that later, right now the kids are doing homework and my wife is on the warpath.
-
The lightsave.d3l is from D3Edit when you light a level. It'll come back next time.
With which levels does the crash occur? Is it in SP or just in MP?
-
Well, I guess it's not really a crash. What happens I'd say about 75~85% of the time, any level, singleplayer or multi, is when I quit a level the screen either goes black or there are some colored lines kinda random. Then I hit the esc key once, then the down arrow 7 times, then enter, and I exit D3. Does not affect the sound.
-
Curious. Sounds to me like it might be a video card issue (or video driver issue).
If you switched from Direct3D to OpenGL (or the other way around) ... does it still happen?
-
I'll have to try that, the same thought occurred to me.
-
Have you tried to add -nomultitexture to the command line switches?
