Title: Music choice for Descent 1 and 2
Post by: Sapphirus on November 02, 2015, 09:59:35 AM
What choice of music you play through the Jukebox feature or Playlist?
I choose... whatever music I want.  For example for some odd reason, the Soundtrack from Super Smash Bros (ranging from Melee to Brawl to 4 (3DS and Wii U) seems to fit Descent 2 perfectly (for most of it's 'tracks) from my perspective.

PS- the reason I spelt extreme as XTREME! is just for humor

You forgot the option of whatever came with the game.

Just the usual music the game came with. Seems to me that if that's the music the game with, that's how it ought to be played. I'm a bit of a purist, I guess.

That said, I have played Descent on rare occasion to other music soundtracks. The most memorable was playing D2 to the soundtrack of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (funnily enough, some of the tracks actually work).

Typical me, my choice isn't up there. :D
I tend to use a mix of songs that are related to the game but weren't in it -- ya know, songs from unreleased mission packs, from the old Descent community album, Lyris's stuff... Verran's Core Decision album... and I think there's five or so songs from Skinny Puppy and NIN that the games' soundtracks clearly took a heavy influence from.  I think I have over a hundred songs in there.  Good thing XL and Rebirth have a randomize option. :D

Otherwise I'll use all the redbook soundtracks in a big playlist.  I rarely listen to the midis when I play anymore, which is a shame since I've got a new midi driver set up with a pretty awesome soundfont and I just use it for Doom.
