Title: Desktops 2014
Post by: Sapphirus on January 03, 2014, 09:28:30 AM
It's that time of the year! (no, not Christmas, since Christmas is over)

It's time for your 2014 desktops!

I finally got around to un-stickying the 2013 thread and stickying this 2014 thread.  Sorry for the delay.  :P

My latest "experiment" ... Mageia Linux (https://www.mageia.org/en/) ... Kind of like it so far.  Think I'll stick with the coastal desktop rather than the (actually quite nice looking) default Mageia background.  Here's screenshots of the default background, the same but with a coastal background, and a view of Mageia "in action"...

Eventually I need somebody to teach me how to set up rotating wallpapers... ;D

I haven't tried it, yet, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that in Windows 7 you only need to put the wallpapers in a folder and direct Windows to use that folder as rotating walllpapers.

Tis true.

It dawned on me that I hadn't ever posted this desktop yet, so I'm correcting it now.

Put it up around the 50th anniversary last year, and it's stayed up ever since. It's actually been in use unusually long for me and desktop pics...

My newest addition. :D
He's the closest thing I have to a pet now (I don't like dogs). :(  But he likes me. :)

He thinks I'm a leopard though... :o I put him through a bunch of filters cuz I like reality to look less real. ;D

It's BAAAACK! I've been hard at work updating my Mario Maps with more realistic looking land sprites, and I'm ringing in "Generation 3" Mario Maps this month! Do those land tiles for the snow world look familiar to you Descenters? They should!

I found a couple of new ones... and one I had to expand to the right size and then put through filters so it wouldn't look pixelated because it looked so imperious it needed to be wallpaper.  Only sharing that one for now cuz I don't know how long I'll keep the others.

One of the other desktops is a monitor lizard, just for pun.  And then I added a bunch of frozen and underwater landscapes.
