Title: Gamespy shutting down, what does this mean for D3 multiplayer?

The reason I ask is because it seems like pretty much every server in Vortex is listed with GameSpy as the tracker. What will happen without GameSpy? Come to think of it, how did D3 even end up as a GameSpy game in the first place? GameSpy doesn't usually take on games that were old when GameSpy was created.

...there are other trackers.

Also, it turns out the GameSpy servers are owned and handled by an entirely different company, and won't be affected.

Well if GameSpy doesn't pay the bills they'll probably shut down the servers. No reason to keep a backend service running with no frontend to make money from it.
