Smashing Magazine has a contest every month for designers to come up with wallpapers with a calender... or not. So I thought it would be cool to have a Descent Themed Calender (or not) Wallpaper Contest. But not really a contest, just make some Descent themed wallpapers with a calender, or not, and post 'em up!
Oh, and to see what I'm talking about, go here: Desktop Wallpaper Calendar: March 2012 | Smashing Magazine (http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2012/02/29/desktop-wallpaper-calendar-march-2012/)

Minor adjustment.

You know, it doesn't say what month. ???
-
True, I didn't think that was necessary. What would be really neat though would be to have the day highlighted. Anyone know of a way to do this, maybe have a different pic for every day, and have windows pic the pic based on the date?

Webshots (http://www.webshots.com/) has a screensaver/organizer for the images you can get through their service ... and the screensaver/organizer could superimpose a calendar on the wallpaper with the current day highlighted, if you wanted it to. At least, it used to be able to do that.
I haven't used their service in a very long time (you have to pay in order to get images of larger sizes), and what their screensaver/organizer can do may have changed significantly. Webshots used to be their own company, too. They're now part of American Greetings.

You think they would accept my "Mario Maps" that I've been posting here every month? I see a lot of "linear" calendars on there but my days are scattered. I suppose I could make a version of it where the day panels for Sundays have red stars in the box that has the numbers. I could also edit it so it doesn't say "World 3-X" at the top and make it just say "World 3" so it can be "stationary."
-
lol, they might. It's really a designer's site, but the Mario calender might be seen a just quirky enough.
-
hmm... I wonder how I'd be able to edit the resolution size. It's set for my monitor which is 1366x768. Any other sizes and I'd need to perform some intense pixel surgery, or even change the layout of the dates. If I did send a Mario Map Calendar in for submission, I'd need to do one a few months in advance.

The ratio should be either widescreen or regular, then just re-size either up or down, or make some nice border to fill in the extra padding.
