It's a genre of metal that involves heavy application of polyrythms and mathematical riffs. Examples include
Meshuggah http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkrjE4QRsys (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkrjE4QRsys)
After The Burial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR_SYEotYyU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR_SYEotYyU)
Born Of Osiris http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_rVQiywVw0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_rVQiywVw0)
(I don't listen to any three of these very much, i was busy spending my money on other bands :P)
Math metal is closely related to Djent, some people consider Djent a synonym but I find Djent to be more of an umbrella genre than math metal. Examples of good Djent include
Meshuggah (The fathers of Djent) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-Oz9o8pVq4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-Oz9o8pVq4)
Periphery - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gy25McxkEI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gy25McxkEI)
Circles - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WfGpXJOW9M (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WfGpXJOW9M)
There are probably better examples but these are the ones I've been exposed to. :P

I don't know much of anything about these genres of music, much less the bands that play them.

Well I'm unqualified to pick then because I don't like metal or jazz. (I know, blasphemy! :o)
-
It's OK to not like Metal... but Jazz???
-
I told you it was blasphemy. :D
My piano teacher was the same way.
I am completely serious; I can't stand jazz, I even tend to like metal better.
But if you want, you can dismiss that as the ramblings of a crazy fox.

i recently learned of a new genre called Djentstep

and also this band decided to make their album into a computer game

Sounds like a hybrid of techno and what I've heard of dubstep, with dubstep being slightly more predominate.
-
I'd say it has a Gothic Metal look (All those protrusions and stuff), if not Black or Death Metal.

Then you'd be terrified to know that in the very beginning of metal, there was jazz. Black Sabbath originally was a band called "Earth" and "Polka Tulk". They played jazz & blues. Tony Iommi himself is a blues guitarist by conviction. When Tony Iommi detuned his guitar on "Master of Reality", heavy metal was born. But listen to Black Sabbath pieces like "Symptom of the Universe", "Into the Void", "After Forever", and you'll notice that it's all bluesy/jazzy (the final movement of "Symptom of the Universe" is a piano/strummed guitar jazz piece, "Planet Caravan" is a jazzy/bluesy ballad, "The Wizard" is a blues piece complete with harmonica, etc.).
