Tiny Dark Nation October 27, 2012, 09:06:13 AM 192
Or Tiny Dark Nation #3ase The Log Scale

A tribute to the work of Lyris!  In a genre and style that he never used -- Jazzy chaotic tribal hiphop!
Lots of Awe32-like soundfont instruments, and more generally instrumentation very similar to the orchestral sort of instrumentation Asrale enjoyed (with the exception of the harmonica).

The vocals are a parody of the culture of a "tiny dark nation".  From the instrumentation and style you can probably guess what nation it symbolizes.  Canadians have to be anti-american (except for those Americans who get the status of honorary Canadian), it's part of our national identity, but it's all in good fun, and you knew that anyway.  I wanted to have some more good fun with it.  A song that basically tells you why I'm glad not to be American.

Darkwave Acid Rock

A song built around the rubberduck synth which I'm starting to use since Image-Line killed TS404.  It's got a very authentic TB-303 sound (possibly even more than 404) although it can't be run in a DAW or controlled directly by midi.  It runs as a standalone program, playing a pattern that you set with a midi input, and records its output to wav, which can be imported after the fact.  So it basically works like a real 303.

The song feels aggressive even with its slower pace (100BPM), I think I still had my anger at Image-Line in the back of my mind... plus the lyrics could be interpreted as eating somebody alive.  Not my intention when writing them but I'll go with it.  Not too long, but I only took three or four hours to write it; the real meaning of writing tends to be what was in the back of the author's head anyway.  And for some reason it reminds me of a couple of the Descent 2 redbook songs, which is I guess why I shared it here.
Metal Hearts December 31, 2012, 08:07:02 AM 191
I guess this could be a "love ballad".  Being about the love of a mechanical weasel...
Because I refuse to write normal lyrics EVER!  (And I refuse to not sing choruses and bridges in a voice that isn't an impression of the Seventh Doctor :P)
More importantly, can you hear "Conveyor" in this song?

This song was written for Maniacal Valleys EP.
The Haunted One May 04, 2013, 07:15:57 PM 23
Another song I really like that isn't getting hosted anywhere else.  Kind of like a mix of industrial and spanish guitar, if you can imagine that.  If you can't, then listen to it!

A slow electro-rock song that just goes to prove how much I like harpsichord.
Oddly for me, this song is not from the point of view of a ridiculously powerful gauss-cannon-of-life carnivoran struggling to come to terms with a sudden transformation (because he used to be a man!  Before he got in THEIR way...) or losing some personal battle regardless of their gauss-cannon-of-life-ish level of power.  Though it's still not from a human point of view.  Why would I write something boring like that?
It's from the point of view of a completely-normal-in-power-level beached dolphin determined to return to the sea.  And in the end, the music implies he actually succeeds.  How about that for a change?  Flying makes a return as a metaphor -- for swimming, because if all you ever know is the sea, is there really a big difference?
And apparently this dolphin likes harpsichord.
Monster City June 07, 2013, 04:29:36 PM 88 2
The first song recorded on my new mic that's not a part of Killer Robots & Woodland Spirits.  The percussion is very strange.
The monsters in their city are probably the least scary thing that the singer character finds... even despite the way he finds them.

And yeah, the name is taken from level 5 of Entropy 2.  I'm shameless ::).

I think I can hear just a little bit of "Off Sides" in this track.  Not intentional, but do you guys notice it?
Secrets ("The Hidden" Orchestral Remix) December 23, 2013, 09:25:28 AM 117
A remix of Secrets, also known as Secrets ("The Hidden Orchestra in the Back of Your Alien Spaceship That Follows You While You Fly Around A Laboratory" Orchestral Rock Remix).
Kartsal's an appropriate image.  He seems to have lots of secrets -- in fact, for all I know Pumo could have originally titled the song Secrets as a reference to him.  But, that's not the reason I chose the picture.
I just love his hat.
