Obsidian, like the Entropy Experiment, had a great midi soundtrack that was far ahead of its time. The limitations of the midi format, however, had a huge (and very bad) impact on what could have been so much more if it wasn't a midi soundtrack. There were only a few sound sets where you could actually hear how great the soundtrack really was, and the lack of filters, lack of realistic guitars, and the limitations of midi drum sets (mostly the limits of having only 2 kicks and 2 snares per song) all put a cap on what otherwise could have been so much better.
I'm remaking each of the nine songs from scratch and trying to bring them all some of 'what could have been'.
Playful acid-DnB remix. Definitely watery. Just as well as this song played only in water-themed levels. It might look like the remix is just named for its level, but it's named Accelleration because Accelleration is the best possible name for it. Just listen to it and you'll see.
As you may or may not have heard I'm now trying to turn the soundtrack from Obsidian into an electronic rock album. The lyrics here were actually written for something different but I kept hearing them in my head sung to the tune of the level 7 song from Obsidian, and I eventually just gave in and wrote it as a remix of the level 7 theme from Obsidian instead of an original song that would have been half as good.
What am I doing? Why am I here? I feel like I'm standing On the edge of a chasm
Looking down into the Mists that shroud the birth of time I want to know the reason Reality is here
I'm standing on the precipice Looking down into the pit Of time, the universe and all reality
I'm waiting for something In this great unknown Why am I? Or am I at all?
I am connected To the universe My feet keeping time To the ends of reality I am a part Of the great unknown One of the pieces In balance in a great machine (x2)
How did I come to be Am I even here? Could I simply be a figment Of my own imagination
Is life a test of faith From some sort of diety Or could it really be made out of Pure random chance
I'm standing on this precipice Looking down into the mists that Shroud the beginnings of time and all reality
Is there a reason? Should I just jump off and see? I long to know why I am.
I am connected To the universe My feet keeping time To the ends of reality I am a part Of the great unknown One of the pieces In balance in a great machine (x2)
Time... Reality's birth Time... Time...
Time... What happened to Earth? Time... Time...
:Guitar Solo 1:
And I feel like I'm falling All the way down to the mists that Shroud the beginning of time And all reality
I feel like I'm falling All the way down through those mists that Shroud the beginning of time And all reality
Guitar Solo 2:
I'm hanging on the cliff face Looking down into the pit of Time, the universe and all reality
I climb back up the cliff face Knowing that there are some things I just can't know
I am connected To the universe My feet keeping time To the ends of reality I am a part Of the great unknown One of the pieces In balance in a great machine x2
