Google royally f**ked it up... Anyone have any alternatives they use to YouTube that they enjoy?
-
In which way do you think Youtube sucks? Finding videos? Posting? I was never crazy about it, but I use it for some things, never to post.
-
Texace is probably talking about the recent update to the comments section on YouTube. Everybody is up in arms about it.
Personally, my fix was to just not bother with the comments, which works nicely as I was already not bothering with the comments before. :P As for the rest of the site, I've found it works the same as always now, so no complaints there.
-
I have rarely ever commented on You-Tube. Anytime any site is changed, people get 'up in arms'. People are always most vocal when they don't like something. And given the millions of viewers every day, there are bound to be thousands that don't like any particular change, and thousands more that just don't like change.
But, yeah... imagine if you left work (or school) for home one day, and someone arbitrarily re-arranged your town.

I tried to comment on the the video POTD but instead of commenting it popped up a blank window which immediately closed again. And I am logged in, so this doesn't just suck, it's broken.
-
Comments can be great, but many can lie. I see cod ghosts has some not great reviews. Some post 1 star with no mention as to why it sucks. I don't typically deal with comments

Oh, it's not broken... you are REQUIRED to activate Google+ in order to be able to post on YouTube now. That's the part I'm pissed off about; the fact that they're basically forcing people to use their social media site. Good thing I don't ever use my real name online. I love Russian Cyrillic! :D

Sorry I have to post this clip
Nostalgia Critic "THIS IS STUPID" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTNP792ykYM#)
-
HAHAHA!!! Ahhh... wow! That's just great! ;D
-
I'm pretty sure Google isn't forcing you to do anything.
-
I just noticed this now when going down to comments. Part of it may sound good to link up with everything, and simplify matters. But some may see it has an invasion on privacy. Its one reason I am not fond of gmail. I have something else for email and I love it :)
-
Invasion of privacy? Google owns both so they already have own everything you post on either.
-
OUR privacy, sorry. Some dislike Google/Gmail for this reason, "we'd like your phone number in case you need to recover your password."
-
But giving your phone number is not mandatory.
I do have a Gmail account since years already and never gave my number. ;D
Anyway, this is the Internet, there's no such thing as real 'privacy' here. :P
-
I certainly agree with you there, this is the internet. I have a smartphone, go gmail knows my number. I rarely use gmail though. And its more because I hate them grouping messages

But up until now, they've not been linked and people could not tell what you had on Google+ from your youtube. Google doesn't seem to understand that people don't want the whole internet seeing everything they do.

Weeell... not forcing per se, but... if you want to comment on YouTube, you can't now unless you activate Google+. They can do what they want; it's their company, but they're nothing without the people that support them, and if what they do pisses off their patrons, then they're just shooting themselves in the foot.
The way I see it, people will just learn to adapt and accept, as usual.
-
Agreed, 100%.
IHH, what you said is true too. However, he who that thinks that way is only deluding himself. What your saying is that they want to be rude and arrogant on one site, but be Mr.Clean on the other. Personally, I'm more than happy to see Google thwart that type of thinking, even if it's only on Google products.
-
Doesn't change the fact that it's a ploy to try and force the usage of Google+ on people by Google, which I agree that, tactically, probably not the best of moves on Google's part.
I'd like to think people will eventually accept and adapt too...only it seems the hatred for this change seems more...venomous than usual, so it's still up in the air. It depends on what Google does in response to this.
-
Bottom line, they've gotten too big and a lot of people don't like the changes they've made. People are starting to look for other alternatives to Google while others just adapt and accept... hmm... sounds like America!
