...they build dance floors!

And the ice spindles turn into disco queens!
-
How do you know it's for the robots and not the prisoners? Maybe the robots wanted to keep the prisoners busy while they were being imprisoned. :P
-
Because it says so here (http://www.planetdescent.net/index.php?topic=653.msg10640#msg10640).
-
heh, I actually meant to write "hostages" there
-
When robots get bored, they make dance floors. When hostages get bored, they take over the dance floor.

You know, that pic could be a Pic Of The Day. We haven't had a new one in quite a while.

*cough* ::)
:P

How in the HECK is there 234 seconds to escape the mine??? Is there an easier difficulty level other than "Trainee" that I'm unaware of? Perhaps it's set to Kindergarten... no wait... Pre-K... no, no... I got it... DAYCARE... no, that's still to hard... nursery! Wait... still to hard... WOMB! lol So it goes: Preconception, Womb, Nursery, Daycare, Pre-K, Kindergarten, Trainee, Rookie, Hotshot, Ace, Insane.
-
The mine's escape time is set to be much higher than that of normal levels.

/me agrees.

But I played Trainee when I was in Kindergarten!
Yeah, that level basically requires you to do everything during the mine destruction... and trust me... it's usually not enough time to find everything.
There are a whole bunch of invulns that are very useful even though there are no robots -- because you don't need to stop and shoot the red mines.
I did manage to find the hostages in that level once... never again. And I'm planning an all-hostage, no save allowed run of D1, D2, and Vertigo on Hotshot next... doesn't bode well.
-
I always seemed to find the prisoners in that level fairly consistently. Not really sure how...I just managed to do it anyway as I'm running along grabbing things. :P
I now have a vivid image of a prisoner doing some disco moves in my head, BTW. ;D
-
I always thought the hostages were doing half jumping jacks. But I don't have those kinds of hostages anymore. I upgraded to the hi-res ones. I think they just stand there and look all... hi-res and sh**. lol

That particular level starts with you destroying the reactor, which then opens the door to the maze of tunnels you have to navigate in order to exit. It's programmed with a really long reactor time just so that you stand a chance to 1) go the distance and 2) have a chance to pick up a LOT of additional power ups if you hurry hurry hurry. It's actually kind of fun (which is good in a game).
-
The secret teleporter can be found in level 14.
I think that there are 3 Earthshaker missiles in there.
If you blow the reactor, you can head backwards to the teleporter and gain nothing but points, or you can head left through the maze and collect yer booty, but be careful. It gets insanely confusing in there and you might not find the exit at the end! I hurry to the end, find the exit, and then leave a trail of markers away from the exit into key areas.
-
Yep. OR...
(Spoiler:)
Fire a guided-missile thru the 1st gate (it is a grated one), maneuver the missile in the adjacent room, and take it back, and hit the gate from the other side... and then collect the looties at your own leisure >:-D
-
I admit that it's been a while since I did that level... But as I recall, that level has a floor marking (an animated overlay texture) that directs you through, so all you have to do is watch for the power ups and keep an eye on the floor marking. Nothing to it.
Those using the guided missile to open the grated door early is a good idea.
-
Also, place a marker to the door, and you got a huge warehouse free of bots!
-
Oh, is this that secret level in D2 with the multiple green reactors that add the time?
-
Oh, is this that secret level in D2 with the multiple green reactors that add the time?
Nope, that would be Secret level 6.
-
Secret level 6 isn't that hard to navigate either. And there are no hostages on it (because it's after Limefrost Spiral -- there are no hostages after Limefrost Spiral).
Basically.... you need to get back into D2 :D.
Brimspark and Limefrost Spiral are the king and queen of giant levels. But Brimspark level 2 (level 10 in the whole game) is usually the longest one because of the yellow keymech (which has about a hundred decoys --- kind of like me in D3 multi).
Excuse me for a second. I just got an idea for a new pilot.
-
what map is this? this must be a series of levels or something. I just noticed how many lives this player has, x37.
can't get that right away.
-
Secret Map 4 of Descent II
-
im assuming typing in some cheat code can get you there? i may have to check that out someday.
-
No, all you need to do is find a teleporter hidden in one limefrost spiral level. The teleporter looks like your typical sparkly red gate thing, and flying through it will take you to a secret level. Every planet in Descent II has a secret level. Typically, it can only be accessed from one level, but sometimes it can be from two (like the first one)
-
The secret teleporter can be found in level 14.

It is at 4:33. Watch through it to find out exactly where it is.

Wait I'm confused. Why are you saying nope when that is what I was asking about. So in other words, YUP, this is the secret level in D2 with the multiple green reactors that add the time, also known as "Secret level 6"? Same thing or different?
-
I don't see how that can possibly be any more clear. Just read it again.

The screenshot features Secret Level 4. You're thinking of Secret Level 6.
