Spotted this image of a "Jacknife" concept ship on the Miner Wars web site
(http://mirror1.minerwars.com/Pics/MinerWars0103_zoom.jpg)
I particularly noted the forward swept drop wings which even include the 2 horizontal stripes.

Cool.
Still hoping for a release sometime soon. Not giving up hope yet.
(Please no one use this thread to attack Miner Wars again.)
-
Looks a little like a Magnum, doesn't it? 8)

Agreed, though "Jackknife" seems less like a tank (slow, big weapons, big armor) name to me. Stylewise it looks more like it would be a mid-range ship (balanced weapons/armor/speed).
-
yeah, part of it does look like a pyro or some sort of Descent ship.
nice colors.
It does look more midrange. not so much a magnum. it looks too bulk to be a phoenix type either. mid is good.

Did I just noticed a car door?!
-
i don't think so. there is something about the front that does. I'd say the word, but I fear it's still being banned. the c-pit.
-
the c-pit.
Seriously..?
-
can one say that word that kind of sounds like lockpit? but with a c and not an l?
-
This is a forum that deals with games where you fly in a spaceship. If you couldn't say cockpit (http://www.planetdescent.net/index.php?action=search2), something would be seriously wrong.
-
isn't this the forum that had it like c***pit or something?
-
I can't remember that ever happening here.
Besides, a test sentence:
"On the commander's orders, the musketeer went through the several stages needed to cock his gun"
-
you guys are either being very sarcastic, or something is seriously wrong with my mind. this is the ONLY forum I go to that even has anything to do with ships. maybe it was planetdescent.com that had those issues with the word cockpit.
If I lost my mind, I lost it. I knew it would happen sooner or later.
-
In the seven or so years I've frequented on this forum, on both PD.com and PD.net, I have never seen, nor thought there would be a need, "cockpit" be bleeped out. Never even made the connection until you pointed it out Vanguard, not that I feel the need it be changed or anything now.
-
It really is the usage that matters. I people here were in the habit of using words in a crude manner, then yes it would get added to the filter.
On a small forum like this, there isn't a big need to bleep anything out, as the mods can read everything, and perform moderation as needed. Of course, that also means there is no guarantee someone won't happen to see something inappropriate. Does anyone really want a board where you have to be so concerned about a strict filter that you have to type c-pit instead of cockpit?
-
Yup, I agree with WillyP and Scyphi.
And I proudly announce, we've managed to derail another thread, as per with PD customs! Yaya :D
Where we were? Oh yea, that ship. Again, isn't there a car door over there?
-
I must have lost my mind then. unless it's what WillyP said, and they used it in an appropriate manner.
oh well.
I can see where you would think that's a car door. I doubt it is of course though.
Part of the cockpit makes the ship look like it would go in the water. The wings sort of look like some Star Wars ship; the newer ones that came out.
Nose looks a tad different though, but overall, that looks like one neat ship. and again, I think the color is nice.
-
Is a good, British, nautical term; cockpit. If someone is offended by the word cock, they need to look up its meaning in a dictionary and clear their mental euphimism buffer.
This ship is Thunderbird 4 with wings.
The little engine turbines on the back of it make it look like an X-Wing.
Aside from that I think it looks like a nice and original design. Not sure it looks as purposeful as the D3 Magnum though.
-
I suppose it is a little "lighter" than the Magnum. So I guess that means it's faster and more maneuverable. And it's got the better paint job. :P
-
Carebears.
Not sure about the ship. It looks like someone stuck together a Magnum, Phoenix and Pyro while trying to emuluate Descent.
