Just curious, whether people have visited the front page, or not, and how often.
-
You mean the page you get when you simply go to http://www.planetdescent.net ? and is that same place if you click the "Home" button next to the "Forum" button?
That's where I start at whenever I come here.
-
I start there on way to the forum.
I like the new map. I'm the dot from Harrisburg. I'm actually located about 48 miles (77 km) East, Southeast from Harrisburg.
-
'Course I visit the front page, mate. Give it a quick glance every time I drop by.
Nothin' been new there for awhile, tho. ;)
-
Now that we have an official PotD maintainer there should be a new pic there to look at more often. ;D
-
Yea, but i dont understand the globe, it dosnt work, i dont see dots. :-\
-
Is the globe turning?
-
Yea. It turns, and animates. But no red dots anywhere. ???
-
hmmm... ok, do you wath it thru the whole time period, ie, the indicator at the bottom goes from one end to the other...
What browser are you using? Can you grab the globe and spin it? (just a stab in the dark, here, I really have no idea why it's not working for you.)
-
Internet Explorer 7
EDIT: And yes i can spin it
-
Ok, I just viewed it in IE tester, as IE7... the red dots are hard to see!
Do you see the green lines shooting out from the globe? the red dots are supposed to be at the ends of the green shoots, as if the red dots shot out and the green lines are the trails. In IE 7, they are off by a few pixels. If you see a green line, pause the animation before the green line disappears.
If you mouse over the red dot, the City, Country and time appear.
-
Still Dosnt work. ???
Ah well. :-X
-
Well, I'm at a loss, unless perhaps you browser is set to block something... or maybe using an outdated version of Javascript...
-
I didn't see any red dots either ... until I realized I could zoom in.
The red dots will be seen on the nifty "firework rocket" (whatever you want to call it) that shoots up from the hit locations. I only saw the red dots after I zoomed in quite a bit.
I'm using FireFox and IE8 ... works in both.
Scyphi and I are the sprites/shoot from about Idaho area.
-
You can also pause the time line and move it forward or back with the slider. If you click on the dot the city of origin is displayed. Yesterday I was being identified as Harrisburg. To day it's Lancaster, which is much closer to me. Odd.
I assume Gooding is in Idaho?
-
Gooding?
Yeah, it's in Idaho, but it's way off...
But then maybe that's a good thing...now you guys will never know our exact position! Mwahahaha! :P
...
Nah, there's no fun in that. :P
-
My dot's from Philadelphia now, 64 miles (103 km) east of me. My I do get around.
-
It appears that the "sprite" (red dots) shows the point at which the person's connection "uploads" to the Internet. Could be a variety of places depending on the connection uplinks used by your ISP ... or in the case of DSL ... the point at which your DSL moves from the DSL phone line (your phone carrier) to your actual ISP or the provider providing connectivity for your ISP and where they uplink to the Internet.
Still with me?
-
I'm the one in Concord. Concord is the city next to Pembroke, usually when a website identifies my location it guesses Bow, which is next to Pembroke and Concord.
-
And i think im the one in arizona, i cant tell. :-\
-
So far mine has been pretty close. It locates me in Gardendale, which is (oddly) a small town just a few miles southeast of my town here in Alabama. My girlfriend works in Gardendale, so I'm there a good bit anyway. ;)
