"Descent" posted by Alieo in Assorted Mixes July 08, 2014, 11:24:56 PM 206 1
Here's a possible "pilot" version of Game02/Virtual Tension that I found awhile back, and I found it on Allister Brimble's channel (with him credited as the artist) of some site (I forget where) but it was simply titled, "Descent". The title theme to Descent in the PC was named, "Descent", but in the PSX version, Virtual Tension was actually used as the theme along as the song to levels 1, 12, and 15.
01 - Trickster, D2 Counterstrike Glut Correlation posted by Kaiaatzl in Descent 2 Vertigo Fox Redbook Correlations July 04, 2011, 04:09:25 PM 160
Title: Trickster

Correlated Song: Glut

Correlated Levels: Ahayweh Gate, Coalbank Shaft, Nneri Ring

Project: G'Blanix OST

Description: One thing that irked me about Glut was how, at the beginning of D2, you have these awesome movies with an amazing cinematic soundtrack, you jump into the first level expecting some equally amazing music and what you get is... Glut.  Yeah.
So this song attempts to combine the essence of Glut with that cinematic feel of the movie music in D2, for something that maybe wouldn't have been so underwhelming if it had been the first song to come after those movies.
My secondary goal with this song was to evoke the European Dark Ages, China, and a weasel, all at the same time.

The Great Escape -- Theme of the Thief posted by Kaiaatzl in Easy Streaming and Linking - public January 31, 2011, 08:44:02 PM 878 4 4.98 (2 votes)
Theme of the thief.  I'll change the picture once I get a good shot of him.  Very interesting how the song was created:

I decided to combine the feels of D2's Ratzez, Rouge's songs from Sonic Adventure 2, along with Zsolt Marx's song "Fill Your Pages" from TrackMania Sunrise... a few hours later this was the result.  It sounds very alien, especially later on in the song.

Very wierd, but I think it's good too.  Even though it has no acid synths, I'd classify it as acid dubstep (since the beat is distorted kind of like dubstep) because it's wierd like acid music.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

This is what the alien voices are singing (i.e. the lyrics)
They were inspired by Darkflamewolf's level of the same name from Vignettes, and they're also really wierd (the idea was an alien language translated to english but still with it's own grammar, so they're not totally random).  All the lyrics were made with the FL Speech synth, fruity slicer, wasp, and vocodex (and they all use all of those).

-----------------------------------------------------------------

First part:

"Escape from the mine
You are trapped inside
Bots are everywhere
You must find the secret path"

"Escape from the mine
Bots are everywhere
You are trapped inside
Find the key
Find the key!"

Second part:

"Dude I am so not scared
You cannot fight me anywhere
Bots are everywhere
Find the key
Find the key!"

And at the end:

"Key!"

------------------------------------------------------------

Come to think of it they sound kind of like something from Scott Pilgrim.  It would make a good theme for the D2 Theifbot, the music, the lyrics, and the title fit him perfectly.  (I suppose then I should play it in D2 level 7... such a huge interconnected level it feels like the thief owns it :P).

...and the FLAC file. Which sounds a lot livelier.

Blockfished, punchy/saturated version.

96/24 FLAC file - required listening. The MP3 file is too flat and doesn't transmit it all.

This is a bit experimental mix with a new[ish] drumkit and some VA synths.

Deep inside the smelter I have found a killer swarm
Lancing homing flying box of death
The red ones are a challenge they can sneak in from behind
The blue one can make all the others stronger

All these flying death machines
Are made from what is mined here
Virally infected and then weaponized
All these flying death machines
Are made from ore refined here
They must be stopped destroy the smelter
Or they will reach earth

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Deep inside the smelter we have found an obstacle
Flying lancing flaming ship that must explode
Red ones you corner him
Blue ones you amplify them
Grey ones you deal the final blow

All these flying death machines
Are made from what is mined here
Virally infected and then weaponized
All these flying death machines
Are made from ore refined here
Virally infected and then weaponized
All these flying death machines
Are made from what is MINE here

Blast the flying box of doom

Dodge the homing rocket

Grab the upgrade green

All the keys and reach the core
They can't fight me anymore
Go, blast away and start the countdown

Find the exit hatch
Kill the power patch
Head up, to the surface
I start to breathe again
