55. Descent II Credits (Vintage Dreams Mix) posted by Alieo in Descent I + II - The Vintage Dreams Mix January 30, 2020, 10:35:40 PM 64
Music from Descent 2, Credits
Original Track: "Credits" by Dan Wentz

And that concludes all of the Vintage Dreams project I've been putting off for five years now. I'd like to make a new variation of each world (a Quartzon mix, Brimspark, Limefrost spiral) for each of the 4 songs, but I've been very busy lately. Got my CDL 3 years ago and drive trucks now, got engaged two years ago, and lost my father last year. Lots of changes. I simply don't have time to devote to Descent related stuff lately. I still pop Descent music on every now and then, of course. Y'all be good! Hopefully I get the D2 files done before 2030?

07 Industrial Accident (GAME07 Playstation Redbook Version) posted by Alieo in Descent for Playstation June 04, 2012, 01:07:34 PM 210
"Industrial Accident" by Allister Brimble
GAME07 Playstation Redbook Version

Used in: Levels 7, 14, 17, 22, & 27

Notes: This particular track was used for a whopping 5 levels. Music in the Playstation version of Descent were not repeated in track order, but rather randomly (or strategically) assigned to various levels later in the game. I always wondered why "Industrial Accident" appeared so many times in the game, and when I extracted the music files from the Playstation disc, I found out that "Industrial Accident" had been on there as 3 separate files, yet it was the same song. I speculate that perhaps they were going to include more tracks from the Descent 2 Redbook list, but that they decided to pull a couple of songs at the last minute, leaving the Level 7 theme to repeat itself throughout the game four more times.

Synth-y punk-y rock-y song with Skinny Puppy style synth guitars (if you listen to Skinny Puppy, think Tin Omen or Pedafly or Dig It).

So far, the first work from the point of view of "Mew", a character I particularly like now that I've fleshed him out.  He tries to warn somebody about something bad that's going to happen to them, but has to do it through visual metaphors since he can't speak (at least not in human tongues).  Said somebody ends up not understanding what this twitchy-tailed sharp-toothed lurker in deep darkness has to tell them, and having something bad happen to them.

It was kind of cool to try and represent those visual metaphors along with what "Mew" might be thinking through musical landscapes and lyrics.  It took my mind off the slow death of someone I care about, at any rate.

Also I kind of like what I did to the word "Change" just before the synthy-guitar-ish-thing's solo.  Spoiler alert -- it's something appropriate to the word!  And it was totally worth four extra FX slots that could have been used for other things.

May appear in a late-game stage of a certain Descent mod.
