From a long time ago in a solar system with 9 planets, the bottom line for buying a video game was to "earn the acceptance of your peers".

Good times, man... those were the days...

Good seasons, mate, it's been forever since I've seen that screen! :o
-
Isn't it funny how 3 screenshots now have featured the level 27 boss? Do we just love that thing or what? (http://basementnet.dyndns.org/ryan/phpbbsmilies/icon_razz.gif)

The screenie with the Class 1 Heavy Driller has the plasma rifle on the right cockpit screen. I never noticed that until now. Must have been a debug shot, as was common then - I remember Super Mario Bros. 3 having a screenshot for a version of World 1 that never existed, and I remember Dark Forces having screens involving guns on early levels unable to be attained until the later levels.

Nice catch, but I think it's just a mirror image

Yep, that's mirrored. The keys are only on the right in D2.
-
So the question is...why did they mirror the image? So the plasma cannon that's armed could still be seen without being covered up or for some other reason? :-\
-
It's definitely mirrored, look at the image above and to the left, you can see a spreadfire and blue key on the left. Well, I suppose it's possible they had them reversed, took the screen shot, then decided to switch sides at the last minute for the game release. Who knows...
-
Actually, it's unlikely that the original cockpit graphic was mirrored when that screenshot was taken. The image was probably mirrored, because the robot's eye is also going in the wrong direction.
-
That's what I meant.

Maybe they thought the primay weapon display made a better picture than the secondary but they didn't want to change the overall layout.
(Or maybe it's a secret clue as to the true nature of PTMC) :P
-
Seeing that the PTMC was pretty much blown out of the stars (literally) in D3 ten years ago, don't you think those secrets should be declassified by now? :P
