Well, the virus has been defeated, and life has returned to normal. Hey! It's vacation time! Or, maybe, you are a historian, a reporter, or a freelance photographer... whatever. Where will you go?
-
Expediato*r
-
I picked Shiva for two reasons. One, you don't see much of it's interior throughout the games (really nothing more than Dravis's office) and I'm curious. And two, despite it being PTMC owned, I think that station looks dang cool. :)
I have other places in mind, too, but you can only pick one, so...
-
I voted for Red Acropolis... seems like a nice place to visit. Do some winter sports. Besides, Caitlin Harper's there. ;)
I was also thinking of the level where you have to align the mirrors. Nice view! But I couldn't think of the name of it. :(
-
Oh yeah, that CED space station thing in level fourteen, something like...uh...uh...
...yeah, I can't remember it's name either. :P
I was wondering why that wasn't in the list. :P x2
-
I'd like a tour of the factories that build the robots.
-
yeah, that would be cool! I wonder if they use a 3D printer? ;)
-
Nah they use these:

CED Orbital Network Transmitter... or something like that.
-
I'd go with the Robot Factory.
The Orbital Network Transmitter has some cool things about it, but it's really "closed in" and doesn't really have all that much to wander around it.
You know, I think the PTMC Storage Facility on Titan (place where Dravis had a fellow "rebel" improsoned) would be good. Lots of places to go and things to do.
-
The PTMC Storage Facility was an awesome level. I loved the music and the way it fit in.
-
Added three options! You can change your vote if you want.
And you can plan next years vacation too, as you can now vote twice. ;) note, you have to remove your existing vote to cast two votes, then make both votes at the same time.
I'm sticking with the Red Acropolis for my first vote, and adding the CED Transmitter for my second. Hey, there's a nice garden with a fabulous view there! And imagine the download speeds you'd get tapped into that puppy! :o
-
Now you can download a copy of Descent 3 + Mercenary from GOG.com within mere milliseconds! ;)
I agreed with Scyphi. I'd like to see Shiva. It seems less hostile than the other locales.
-
You know, some of these places were destroyed. ;)
So be careful what you choose.
-
milliseconds? Why wait so long? Well I guess you'd still have to wait for the gOg server. But just think... you could host a thousand player game! ;D
I guess though Shiva station is the iconic location for Descent. I heard they turned it into a Building 19 after the PTMC broke up. ;)

Cheaper that way. Fixer-uppers go easier on the wallet. ;)
-
Not to mention the historical value.
-
Sorry for the necro post.
The beer garden in VP or the bar in TMG. ;-)
-
Sorry for the necro post.
fixed. ;)
-
Fixed, too. Thanks. ;-)

Robot factory would be cool to go to. To see how they were made
-
CED Orbital Transmitter. Feels like home...plus it has A BIODOME!!!!!!!!
-
Seoul City... because it actually exists and I could actually go there if I had enough money...
And the Lunar Outpost, just before the robots invade, so that I can get rescued by the material defender and find out his real name. :D

You mean secret level 3 of D1? (Asteroid Robot Factory)
-
I would repair the High Velocity Weapons Research Center, minus the evil robots and turrets, and turn it into an amusement park.

Bahahahaha, that would be hilarious. Can you say Concussions? ;D
-
Concussions.
-
Well, at least we know you can type concussions. :o
-
Question is: Can he say it?
-
Concussions.
No, you have to type it like this: Concussions?
-
Hey, if your going to type it, type it like this:

Hi all
Hey, where is Quartzon System from D2?? You know its exotic, have good underground pools... Also, how about Tycho Brahe? :D
-
If I was going somewhere in D2, I'd go to limefrost spiral. It can't be much colder than Winnipeg, and the mines there were the coolest in D2 imo (pun indented).
-
I never figured out why it was, but I was always liked Limefrost Spiral too. Levels were nice, the new robots were cool, textures were cool, and the video introducing the new system is a personal favorite. :)
-
Personally I'd love to walk the Quartzon surface. And maybe go into mine 3 of Zeta Aquilae. That one has always been awesome due to the usage of ice-blue textures.
-
Well you know what, the blue and pale-green tones are known to have relaxing effects on people... Quartzon, Limefrost, Puuma Sphere and "Omega" systems, and last 2 levels of Zeta Aquilae had those tones, as I remember?
Also adding to InsanityBringer, D2 Level 3 "Wenl Mine" is one of my favorites, for a level... I especially loved its -original- soundtrack. And I can't forget the Level 14 "Arcticon Corridor".
But, when it comes to D2 Level 7 "Coralbank Quarry", I loved its depth, and usage of water. You know, it even had some natural "waterslides!" :D
In short, I somehow like the D2 levels in all 3 games, I suspect that it is due to the fact that I played D2 after them... And a few years late, I had it in 2005! Lol
-
I voted for Seoul City because once you got past the trains, it was an awesome level. There was even a secret room that was like a spa or something. Very chilled-out.
Red Acropolis would be great too but I imagine it's a pile of rubble after Mission 5.
The CED Orbital Transmitter is a no-no especially if they're still playing that damn music!
Hell, if it weren't essay time I'd install D3 and have a bit of a poke around, maybe set the difficulty a bit higher.
Sadly Easy is too easy and Medium is a little frustrating at times.
I remember playing D1 when I was about 8 and it was mind-blowing but I prefer D3 now for its added depth.
-
All three Descent games have a special place in my heart, but I am particularly fond of D1. It has never lost it's charm for me. :)
-
Planet Quartzon.
I like water places ;D
