Arrangement of tracks 1-5 in this project were supposed to emulate the PC shareware version of the old OPL3 files. After Level 22, Songs 1-5 repeat in Levels 23-27, and that's where you'll hear the full version OPL3 emulations of these variations. I also do different takes for the repeated Secret Levels sequences of Game02 through Game04 in #s 28-30.

Raptor (Pelorus Electro Rmx) posted by Kaiaatzl in Easy Streaming and Linking - public February 14, 2011, 08:30:17 PM 794
A loose remix I made of the Pelorus theme from Obsidian, mostly keeping the same feel with totally different music and instrumentation and in the electro genre... but the beginning should be recognizable to anyone who's played through Obsidian (level 8, if you're not good with level names).

Raptor (as in a bird of prey) is the word that comes to mind when I listen to the original midi file from the game, and the "Raptor" feel is how I kept with the original feel.
To understand how I interpreted that feel... you are the raptor.

The original midi song was by Verran Eventide.

Darkwave Acid Rock

A song built around the rubberduck synth which I'm starting to use since Image-Line killed TS404.  It's got a very authentic TB-303 sound (possibly even more than 404) although it can't be run in a DAW or controlled directly by midi.  It runs as a standalone program, playing a pattern that you set with a midi input, and records its output to wav, which can be imported after the fact.  So it basically works like a real 303.

The song feels aggressive even with its slower pace (100BPM), I think I still had my anger at Image-Line in the back of my mind... plus the lyrics could be interpreted as eating somebody alive.  Not my intention when writing them but I'll go with it.  Not too long, but I only took three or four hours to write it; the real meaning of writing tends to be what was in the back of the author's head anyway.  And for some reason it reminds me of a couple of the Descent 2 redbook songs, which is I guess why I shared it here.
Fake Moog Improvisation posted by Sidhe Priest in Original Music July 30, 2011, 01:14:06 PM 351
The "not-a-Moog" synth improvisation. Almost all the VST effects here are free, the synthesiser is ASynth. The overall setup is similar to what Tony Iommi and Justin K. Broadrick use on their guitars (source->chorus->reverb->delay), with a lowpass filter replacing a guitar cabinet/speaker (guitar speakers usually go only up to 5-6 KHz).
