For those who are having trouble running Descent 3 via Steam's game library, here are some tips:
First of all, you must add Descent 3 into your steam game library (as a non-steam game). when adding it to your library, make sure you add Main.exe (within "C:\*your main descent3 directory*\main.exe") and make sure you add this command line next to it (Within Target, not Start In):
-launched -setdir "C:\*your descent3 directory*"
There, you are ready to play it via Steam.

Thanks for sharing this tip. Worthy of thread sticky?

Remind me why anybody needs to run Descent 3 via steam?

Maybe for those who doesn't wanna flood their desktops with shortcuts ;)

I use an old launcher called "Kwikstrip" by an old doomer named Bio Hazard to help keep my desktop completely clean. The only icons it ever holds are the default windows one (my computer, recycle bin, ect.)

I got a program that was made long, long ago in a computer age far, far away ... It's called "TrayMenu" (by Wei Ke) and with it I have the icons for over 60 games easily available at all times. The program's memory footprint is very small (9,464 K) too.

I chose to use a beach ball for the icon. The folder icon next to it is another menu (via the same program) that contains around 47 icons for non-game programs and a couple links to file locations (and it lists the files at those locations).
I've got a method that works for me.

I simply created a desktop folder that contains shortcuts to the games... Easy, non-greasy.
