I'm going to leave it the blue shade, since that seems the most recognizable.  As far as the color is concerned, it's merely a glow effect that gives it that look; anyone can change the color and size of the glow/thruster to adjust the look however they'd like.

Nicely done! The original D3 shield always looked to me like one of those huge cotton candy suckers. Probably why i craved them during D3 gameplay.
