Bummer... Probably means you don't have the codec, which is Xvid. You can download and install Xvid here, or I can recode it for you. If I recode it it will probably be a much bigger file. What codecs do you have?

It played fine for me using the free version of WinAmp.

Edit: I just tried it in Windows Media Player and it worked fine, so I believe you just need the codec. Or I can convert it to another format.

Sorry for my late response.  I haven't really been around since Friday.

WillyP, if you could convert it, that would be helpful.  I'm on a 64-bit OS and there's no XVid package for 64-bit.

[Edit: Wait, I found one: http://www.xvidvideo.ru/component/docman/doc_download/1818-xvid-122-x64-stable-release-----with-installer.html ]

[Edit2: No dice.  Still can't seem to play it on x64.]

Ok, saving now. eta about 20 minutes.

Edit: Just noticed your edit. I'll let the save run anyway, but let me know if you can get xvid working as the ms codec is creating a 4gig video.  :o

The final file is 5.5 gig, about 3 minutes. It's zipping now. Not sure if I will have time to upload, may have to leave soon.

7Zip got the zip file down to 18.4mb. But, halfway through uploading, the ftp server went down. It is still down.

Thank you!

That's really a strange bug - I'll forward it to the developers this morning.

P.S. Can I get your system specs?

WillyP,

I just showed the video to the game's primary developer.  He said that he's seen that issue before with an ATI gpu, and what fixed it for him was a video driver update.

If getting the most recent drivers for you doesn't fix it, let me know (and send me the system specs).  I'll put it in the official bug report system.

Just did that, no difference. Are there any configuration files on the server. Seems kinda odd to me that it worked fine. Then it didn't. And I deleted all the files, the whole folder, and reinstalled. Was something changed in the files in between?

The client-side installer gets updates once or so a week right now, so it's certainly possible something was changed which causes the issue.

I'm entering this in the official bug/task system here.  Hopefully it's something Dave (the creator / primary developer) can look into soon.

In the meantime, there's one more thing you might try:

Uninstall Shores of Hazeron, then go into the Registry editor, search for the "Shores of Hazeron" key (happens to be HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Software Engineering\Shores of Hazeron on my machine), and delete it.  Then reinstall SoH.  It's worth a shot.
